Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Hybrid Cookware
Equitherm’s hybrid cookware combines the durability of stainless steel with the convenience of Teflon’s non-stick properties. To help you make the most of your investment, here are some tips to enhance your cooking experience:
1. Preheat Properly
Always preheat your cookware before adding any ingredients. This ensures even heat distribution and helps prevent food from sticking. Start with medium heat and adjust as needed.
2. Use the Right Oils
While the Teflon coating provides a non-stick surface, using a small amount of oil can enhance the cooking process. Opt for oils with high smoke points, such as grapeseed, avocado oil or animal fats to avoid burning.
3. Avoid Overcrowding
Give your food enough space to cook evenly by avoiding overcrowding the pan. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking and stewing instead of searing.
4. Choose the right size pan
To ensure even heat distribution, choose the right size pan for your cooktop or gas burner. Using too large a pan can result in hotspots and uneven heat, while too small a pan can lead to a build up of carbon deposits on the exterior of the pan.
5. Deglaze for Flavour
After searing meat or sautéing vegetables, deglaze the pan with a splash of wine, broth, or water. This helps lift the flavourful browned bits from the bottom of the pan, enhancing your dish’s taste.
6. Use Gentle Utensils
Our hybrid cookware can handle metal utensils as the raised stainless-steel ridges help to protect the Teflon surface from scratching. Care should be taken however to avoid gouging the Teflon with utensils such as a sharp knife. Avoid cutting into the surface or digging into it.
7. Clean with Care
- Avoid Abrasives: Steer clear of steel wool, scouring pads, or harsh abrasive cleaners that can damage the surface.
- Soak Stubborn Stains: For tough stains or burnt-on food, soak the cookware in warm, soapy water before gently scrubbing.
8. Store Properly
- Stacking: If you need to stack your cookware, place a soft cloth or paper towel between each piece to prevent scratches.
- Hanging: If possible, hang your cookware to avoid stacking altogether.
9. Regular Maintenance
- Re-seasoning: If you find the non-stick qualities diminishing over time, it may be necessary to periodically re-season your cookware. Simply apply a small layer of oil to the surface of the pan and heat for 1-2 minutes at medium-high heat, then allow it to cool. It's not necessary to do this on a regular basis.
- Inspect for Damage: Regularly check your cookware for any signs of damage or wear. If the Teflon coating starts to peel or chip, it may be time to replace the cookware.
By following these tips, you can ensure your Equitherm hybrid cookware remains in top condition and continues to deliver exceptional cooking performance. Enjoy your culinary adventures with Equitherm!
